Empty and Under-Used Properties?

Lewisham Council's Sustainable Development Select Committee is due to carry out an in-depth review of Empty and Under-Used Properties in the borough, with a focus on identifying the extent of the problem, and looking at ways to reduce numbers.

They have asked ward councillors to list any problematic empty or under-used properties (either commercial or housing - this may also include lock-up garages) in their wards.

The aim is to highlight particularly problematic examples (e.g. concerning noise or nuisance issues; environmental concerns; longstanding under-use or emptiness, etc.).

I have few ideas on this, but any suggestions gratefully received.

And before the well-wishers come trolling along, I meant to write 'a few ideas' rather than 'few ideas'. How much difference an indefinite article can make!

Andrew, there are many places locally that have three or more bedrooms and one elderly person living there...is this kind of what you mean? I do not expect these people to be kicked out of their homes just asking.

It's not what I mainly had in mind and I wouldn't want to pry into particular individuals in such circumstances, but there is indeed an issue about whether the incentives to encourage people in these circumstances to move (voluntarily!) are sufficient.

There were empty shops in campshill road ...unfortunately now they are nearly all being used there is a serious amount of unsociable behaviour...which is ot good for the residents close by. The council doesnt seem to care as long as they are getting their rent.
Residents would be better pff if they closed down again.
Perhaps this is something you could look into.?

Are there any particular shops which are attracting anti-social behaviour on Campshill Road?

about time, however i'm surprised they are only at the stage of thinking they need to discover the extent of the problem, also lewisham council are already well aware of what powers (EDMO etc..) they have at their disposal to reduce the numbers of empty properties and bring them back into use as social housing
