Not a lot of people know this, but the Greenwich Meridian runs right through Lewisham Central ward.  Even fewer people might know it in future, because some barbarians have pillaged the monument marking the Meridian line on the Bellway development on Hither Green Lane.  Nicked the metal plaques commemorating all the other homolongitudinal sites on our Meridian. Right opposite where I live, so I suppose I should check my alibis for the GMT in question,

It's a bit much. Hither Green Lane has seen invasion by Saxon and Jutes, bombing by Huns, and having pubs taken over by Goths.  Some of these can be forgiven in time.  But now it seems it's the turn of the Vandals to wreak havoc.
